Abstract

Broadspectrum has contracts across Australia, and in remote and regional locations.

Our national and regional presence underpinned by a commitment to care for each other, meant that we fostered strong ties with the local communities where we work, and invested in those local communities.

We came to learn over the years what meaningful looked like if you wanted to make your contribution to local communities sustainable.

This imperative underpinned our focus when we developed our first Reconciliation Action Plan in 2009.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan is based on inclusion, reconciliation and the strengthening of relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

The Plan has achieved Elevate status because it is inclusive of Indigenous organisations and people both in its development, governance and implementation; is focused on long-term employment and business engagement; and is integrated into our business at all levels.

The fundamental success of the Plan is that it is inclusive.

People can be your greatest asset — but we have to give them the opportunity to be included, and to enable them to develop to their greatest potential.

Let’s make that happen.

This requires robust governance and systems, company-wide commitment, the commitment to seek input to make meaningful change, and collaboration both within and outside the organisation.
