Abstract

The survival of 25 'erect' and 13 'spreading' lines of lucerne was recorded under intermitten and continuous grazing in a spaced-plant trial in south-east Queensland. Plant losses over two years were high in all lines. Hunter River survived better than all the other erect lines. A few spreading lines survived slightly better than Hunter River. These latter lines were derived from lines that had previously shown promise for prolonged grazing in South Australia, although there the superiority was much greater than it was in the present trial. No line out-yielded Hunter River.
