Field evaluation of benomyl for control of limb dieback (gummosis) in apricots

Abstract

A single application of 0.025 per cent benomyl to apricot trees immediately after pruning gave a highly significant reduction in the proportion of wounds which subsequently became infected when a standardized dose of ascospores of Eutypa armeniacae was applied one day later. Benomyl also reduced infection when applied two days after inoculation, but was not effective when applied to the trees before pruning.
