Abstract

Wastage of Purple Cornichon grapes due to species of Botytis and Penicillium was considerably reduced by wrapping bunches in tissues impregnated with sodium o-phenylphenate, o-phenylphenyl acetate or o-phenylphenyl butyrate. Sodium metabisulphite and ammonium carbonate crystals were less effective. The phenol derivatives were equally effective and their potency was 4.3 times that of sodium metabisulphite. The potency of ammonium carbonate was 0.5 times that of sodium metabisulphite.
