Abstract

Pododacric acid, a trihydroxy diterpenoid acid obtained from New Zealand Podocarpus species, has been formulated as 12,16,17- trihydroxyabieta-8,11,13-trien-19-oic acid (2) and its structure confirmed by partial synthesis from 12-hydroxypodocarpa-8,11,13-trien- 19-oic acid (1; podocarpic acid).
