Studies in the chemistry of technetium. Complexes of technetium-(II), -(III), and -(IV) with 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane

Abstract

Complexes of bi-and ter-valent technetium have been prepared with the diphosphine 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane, viz. [Tc(diphos)₂X₂] and [Tc(di-phos)₂Br₂]Br where X = CL, Br. The complexes can be formulated as octahedral compounds and both magnetic and spectral evidence agree with this. The quadrivalent technetium compounds TcBr₄, TcBr₄(Ph₃P)₂, and the salts (diphos-H₂)TcX₆ (X = CL, Br) and Ag₂TcCl₆ have also been prepared and are described. Attempts to prepare the trichloride (TcCL₃) are also reported.
