Organic compounds of uranium. Reactions of uranium pentaethoxide with β-diketones

Abstract

The reactions of uranium pentaethoxide with β-diketones (acetylacetone and benzoylacetone) have been studied and derivatives of the type U(OEt)_5-xL_x (where L = acetylacetone or benzoylacetone; x = 1, 2, or 3) have been isolated. These derivatives interchange their ethoxy groups with tertiary butoxy groups on refluxing with t-butyl alcohol. The molecular weights and boiling points of some of the typical derivatives have been determined and recorded.
