Carbonyl halides of the Group VI transition metals. I. Molybdenum tetracarbonyl dichloride and some of its derivatives

Abstract

Molybdenum tetracarbonyl dichloride, Mo(CO)₄Cl₂, has been prepared and characterized. It is thermally unstable and reactive. Substitution compounds with triphenylphosphine and triphenylarsine have been readily obtained. All these compounds are diamagnetic.
