Abstract

Inoculum of Phytophthora cinnamomi and Ph. Drechsleri incorporated into coarse river sand caused significant reductions in the survival, height growth, dry weight and root/shoot ratio in seedlings of most Pinus species tested. Major exceptions were Pinus massoniana, which was not significantly affected by any treatment, and P. khasya, which was significantly affected by only the northern Ph. Drechsleri isolate. The significance of these results in relation to nursery and plantation establishment is discussed.
