Wood characters of the F₁ hybrid, Eucalyptus rubida × Eucalyptus maideni

Abstract

An F₁ hybrid was produced in 1948 from Eucalyptus maideni and E. rubida.

In 1962, trees were large enough to fell and to provide heartwood samples.

With the exception of one anatomical feature which was like the E. maideni parent, both anatomical structure and mechanical properties of the F₁ hybrids were intermediate between those of the parents.
