Abstract
Sheep reproduction from ovulation to weaning was modelled as a Markov series of multiple binomial distributions, which required a minimum of assumptions and a small number of parameters for the entire reproductive process. Methods of constructing the model and of estimating the parameters are described, and results from simulated example flocks with different ovulatory potentials are presented. A variety of potential applications, for example as an adjunct to economic modelling and methods of validation and use in the analysis of reproductive experiments, are discussed.https://doi.org/10.1071/BI9880133
