Abstract

Mouse blastocysts collected on day 4 were cultured in [3Hlthymidine (0·01 .uCi/ml) for 24 hand transferred to the uteri of pseudopregnant recipients. Autoradiography revealed that when such blastocysts were allowed to develop for 48 h in utero, label was apparent in the nuclei of decidual cells. The experimental conditions were physiological since blastocysts developed into normal offspring when gestation was allowed to proceed in pseudopregnant recipient animals. The transfer of foetal DNA into maternal decidual cells may be of important immunological significance.
