Abstract
The seeds from 18 Australian native plants were evaluated for their potential as food crops by assessing their nutritive values. Proximate analyses for water, protein and oil content were conducted, together with detailed analyses of the fatty acid content of the triglycerides, and of the amino acid content. Four plants, Hovea elliptica, Hardenbergia violacea, Crotalaria cunninghamii and Kennedia nigricans, were found to have a chemical composition which may have the potential for human food.https://doi.org/10.1071/AR9830427
