Abstract

Skatole (3-methylindole) has been shown to be a chemical attractant for the Tasmanian grass grub beetle Aphodius tasmaniae. There is a similarity in responses by this insect to skatole and to light. This suggests that unfed gravid females will respond positively to both light and dung.
