Abstract
Defoliation, whether by cutting or by grazing, substantially reduced nitrogen stress provided that this stress was evident before defoliation.Defoliation had little effect on the relation of nitrogen stress to the concentration of either total nitrogen or ninhydrin nitrogen of the youngest, intact, fully expanded leaf.
