Effect of temperature and host on Paratylenchus neoamblycephalus and effect of the nematode on the host

Abstract

The optimum temperature for increase in number of Paratylenchus neoamblycephalus on apple seedlings was approximately 20°C, and at 30° numbers did not increase. Higher numbers of nematodes developed on apricot than on apple seedlings, but the growth of apple was reduced more than that of apricot. No histological or pathological symptoms caused by the nematodes could be detected. Changes in total numbers of nematodes appeared to be related to changes in numbers of females
