Assessments of potassium and sulphur fertilizer requirements of wheat in Western Australia

Abstract

Significant responses to potassium and/or sulphur fertilizers are reported for 20 from a total of 86 fertilizer experiments in the wheat-belt of Western Australia. The yield responses to these nutrients were generally small, but are considered to be important as possible first manifestations of deficiencies that could develop on a wide variety of soils in this region. The sulphur deficiency could develop quickly if low sulphur content phosphatic fertilizers replaced the traditional superphosphate for wheat production.
