Abstract

A compact battery operated meter for measuring the salinity of water supplies on pastoral properties, has been modified for use on irrigation and drainage waters. The instrument operates between 0-12,000 micrombos/cm (0-8,500 parts per million) using two ranges. The low range operates between 0-2,000 micrombos/cm (0-1,400 p.p.m.) to permit accurate measurement of irrigation supplies which are generally below 1,500 micrombos/cm (1,000 p.p.m.).
