Abstract
With the notable exception of the detailed study of Van Dyck (1996), the sparse literature on the False Water-rat Xeromys myoides comprises a few brief notes recording little more than new distributional records, odd facets of behaviour and limited habitat information (Redhead and McKean 1975; Magnusson et al. 1976; Dwyer et al. 1979; Van Dyck et al. 1979; Van Dyck 1992, 1994; Van Dyck and Durbidge 1992; Hitchcock 1998). Here we add one more such note, with the excuse that there are still too few pieces of the jigsaw to adequately circumscribe the range and habitat use of this species, rendering its conservation status almost impossible to define.https://doi.org/10.1071/AM00221
