Abstract

The endangered mountain pygmy-possum Burramys parvus is found only in alpine and subalpine regions of Australia, and is the only alpine-dependent mammal in Australia (Mansergh and Broom 1994). Characteristically, B. parvus is found living among boulderfields that have a vegetation community of Podocarpus heathland (Gullan and Norris 1984; Mansergh et al. 1989).
