For Authors
Welcome to CSIRO Publishing’s Books Information for Authors. We are delighted you have found your way here. You might have taken your first step to becoming an author with us.
CSIRO Publishing welcomes new authors, editors and illustrators, along with ideas and suggestions for books. The types of publications we seek include:
- professional, academic and scholarly books for research scientists, academics and those working in industry
- general audience books that interpret science issues for a broader readership, in an accessible way
- children’s non-fiction books that introduce young readers (ages 5–14) to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) topics in an engaging and informative way (note: submissions are currently closed for children’s books).
Our authors and editors are drawn from universities, research institutions, professional consultancies and author societies throughout the world.
We are considering proposals for new work, including across the following subject areas: Animals, Built Environment, Food and Agriculture, Marine and Freshwater, the Natural Environment, Physical Sciences, Plant Science and Science in Society.
We also welcome original proposals that cut across disciplines, or which seek to address the big questions facing science and society.
Please explore our program to gain a sense of the books that we publish.
