Non-conductive volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralization in the Pilbara area of Western Australia

Abstract

Geophysical surveys across the Salt Creek and Mons Cupri volcanogenic massive sulphide bodies of the Pilbara area of Western Australia show them to be chargeable, but not conductive. Pervasive silicification, isolation of conductive minerals by sphalerite and tectonic disruption all appear to contribute to prevent these accumulations of normally conductive sulphides from responding to electromagnetic systems.
