Gall-Bladder Myxosporea in Coral-Reef Fishes From Heron Island, Australia

Abstract

The gall bladders of 96 fishes, representing 24 families, were examined for Myxosporea. This paper describes seven new species from the gall bladder: Sphaerospora mayi, Ceratomyxa rohdei, Zschokkella heronensis, Ceratomyxa sprenti, Chloromyxum noblei, Sinuolinea lesteri and suppresses Myxidium bergense in favour of M. sphaericum.
