Revision of the genus Eutyglossina Cockerell (Apoidea : Colletidae)

Abstract

The genus Euryglossina Cockerell, 1910, is revised. Fifty species are recognized including the following 27 species described as new : E. kellyi, E. stygica, E. healesvillensis, E. douglasi, E. lobiocula, E. gigantocephala, E. nigra, E. atra, E. glenmorganensis, E. bowenensis, E. townsvillensis, E. pulchra, E. polita, E. grandigena, E. angulifacies, E. pulcherrima, E. xanthocephala, E. crococephala, E. megalocephala, E. sulcata, E. melanocephala, E. micheneri, E. pseudoatomaria, E. psilosoma, E. gracilis, E. argocephala, and E. proserpinensis. All previously described species are redescribed and unassociated males representing 19 species are described but not named. The following are considered to be synonyms: E. semiflava Cockerel1 and E. personata Cockerel1 of E. cockerelli Perkins; E. minuta (Rayment) of E. proctotrypoides Cockerell; E. nana Cockerell of E. perpusilla (Cockerell); E. xanthogena (Rayment) of E. bicolor (Rayment) ; E. fusciventris (Cockerell) of E. atomaria (Cockerell) ; and E. pachycephala (Cockerell) of E. gilberti (Cockerell). Keys and line drawings which enable the separation of all species are presented.
