Abstract

Two associated structures on the wings and body of Neuroptera, with a possible stridulatory function, are described and illustrated, and their occurrence within the order is summarized. A structure similar to one of these occurs also in Raphidioptera and Megaloptera but not in Mecoptera. A different structure occurs in Trichoptera.
