Abstract

The vitamin A content of the livers of 30 specimens of Australian fur seal ranged from 360 to 15 000 IU/g wet liver, mean 2711 IU/g. In general, values were highest in livers of larger and apparently older animals, but variability within the series was very high, SD 2835. At the higher levels, a single meal of the liver could be toxic to man.
