Barite pseudomorphs after lenticular gypsum in a buried soil from central Australia

Abstract

Barite pseudomorphs after lenticular gypsum in a buried soil from central Australia are composed of loosely arranged platy crystals. These features were most probably formed by direct alteration with barium-rich solutions. The possible sources of the barium-rich solutions are briefly discussed.
