Abstract
The presence of a major repulsive ion-induced structural force or disjoining pressure between Ca-clay particles is demonstrated. This arises from the perturbation of the normal structure for water to distances of about 50 A. This force operates in slit-shaped pores between clay particles and is opposed principally by attractive ion-ion correlation forces in regions of clay particle overlap.https://doi.org/10.1071/SR9910209
