Micromorphology and genesis of some calcite pseudomorphs after lenticular gypsum

Abstract

A micromorphological examination of some calcite pseudomorphs after lenticular gypsum in a deeply buried layer of an arid soil indicated that these features were formed by direct alteration. The likely changes in pedogenic environment that led to their formation are briefly discussed.
