The Australian zygomycetous mycorrhizal fungi: the genus Densospora gen. Nov

Abstract

The genus Densospora, based on Glomus tubaeforme, and three new species, D. nuda, D. nanospora, D. solicarpa, are described. Densospora is characterised by the presence of small sporocarpic blastospores with single laminate walls that infrequently thicken, filling the lumen of the spore. In culture, G. tubaeforrne has swellings on hyphae. The fungi may form ectomycorrhizae.
