Abstract
The new monotypic genus Brachyscias (Apiaceae) isdescribed from south-west Western Australia.Brachyscias verecundus J.M.Hart & M.J.Henwoodshowsclosest affinities to the endemic genusChlaenosciadium, but differs from this genus in itspossession of glabrous, ternately divided leaves, its foliaceous involucralbracts and bracteoles (with no whorl of bracts around flowers between therays) and by its nectaries being adnate to the styles. The undulate surfacetexture of the fruit of Brachyscias further separates itfrom Chlaenosciadium.https://doi.org/10.1071/SB98002
