Abstract

A second species of Seiridium is described on Eucalyptus spp. in Australia as S. papillatum sp. nov. It is distinguished from the known species of the genus by its short papillate conidium appendages and large, ellipsoid to sub-cylindrical, striate, 5- (4–7-) septate conidia. A key to S. papillatum and closely related Seiridium species is provided and morphological differences are discussed. Colony morphology and growth rate of S. papillatum at different temperatures are compared with those of S. eucalypti and a Seiridium isolate from Callitris.
