Abstract

The comparative morphology of the two Australian species of Geissois is described in detail. The two species can be distinguished from each other by stipule morphology, leaf and venation characters and fruit size. Stipule morphology is illustrated and compared with other genera in the tribe Geissoieae. A model is presented to illustrate the differences in stipule development and morphology in the tribe. Phylogenetic relationships within the Geissoieae are briefly discussed.
