Abstract
Cyperochloa (type species: C. hirsuta Lazarides & L. Watson), a new monotypic grass genus from Western Australia, is described and illus- trated. It is sedge-like in appearance, with filiform basal leaves and a terminal, solitary, bracteate spike subtended by a spathaceous leaf sheath. Detailed comparisons of its mor- phology and anatomy with 728 generic descriptions in an automated database place it in the Arundinoideae, where it occupies a rather isolated position among the relatives of Danthonia.https://doi.org/10.1071/BRU9860215
