Abstract
A swept-frequency technique was used for measuring the polarization of solar radio bursts occurring at the beginning of the present sunspot cycle. Of special interest were the results for bursts of spectral type III. Contrary to the inference drawn from earlier work, it was found that many of these bursts are highly polarized. Furthermore, there were strong indications that the polarization is produced at the radiation source and is not imposed by propagation conditions in the overlying media.https://doi.org/10.1071/PH580201
