Abstract
I review the likely instrumental developments for the study of solar--stellar physics. The study of processes known to exist on the Sun and occurring on stellar surfaces will require increasingly more sophisticated instrumentation and larger telescopes. I specifically describe instrumentation required for the study of stellar activity and activity cycles, stellar rotation, stellar surface motions and magnetic fields, stellar pulsations, stellar chromospheres and coronas and stellar winds.https://doi.org/10.1071/PH850791
