Abstract

An examination is made of the redBhifts and intrinsic powers of the identified radio sources in a complete sample taken from the Cambridge 3C Revised catalogue. The sample consists of the 89 sources of the catalogue having flux density S178 ~ 15 X lO-26 Wm-2Hz-l and I bIll> 15°, of which 71 are now identified. The subset of the sources having SU8 ~ 30 X lO-26 Wm-2 Hz-l, in which there are 23 sources with 22 identified, is also considered. Where redBhifts for the radio sources were not available (in 16 cases out of the 71 identified) these were calculated from the observed visual apparent magnitudes using the Einstein-de Sitter cosmology, and alternatively the Milne cosmology.
