Abstract
The efficiencies obtained in curve fitting by the method of grouping are discussed in terms of two parameters x2 x3 which specify the departure from uniform spacing. For polynomials of the first and second degree the efficiencies practically always exceed 0·7, but the efficiencies for the third degree polynomial may be less than this value if the spacing is markedly non-uniform.https://doi.org/10.1071/PH530361
