Abstract
The implementation of effective policies that reduce the prevalence of smoking has substantial economic benefit for Australia. This article describes how methods for estimating the social costs of smoking were developed and how these methods have been applied to the Australian population and to measure the effect of interventions to reduce smoking prevalence in some states.https://doi.org/10.1071/NB04021
