Abstract
Information is presented on 22 new or little known species from the island of New Britain and the Bismarck Archipelago. Anas clypeata is recorded for the first time in the New Guinea region and only for the third time in Australasia. Evidence of breeding is recorded for Podiceps ruficollis, Ixobrychus sinensis, Himantopus himantopus, Sterna albifrons and Alcedo atthis for the first time in the Bismarck Archipelago and the New Guinea region.
