Abstract
Growth and development of three Plains-wanderers Pedionomus torquatus bred in captivity were observed. The timing of replacement of feathers is given for different regions of the body. The downy young and the differences between juvenile and adult feathers on different parts of the body are described. Sexual differences are apparent soon after the downy plumage is moulted.
