Comments on the taxonomic position of the Cockatiel

Abstract

Some aspects of the behaviour and physical characteristics of the Cockatiel Nymphicus hollandicus were examined in an attempt to clarify the taxonomic position of the species. The evidence suggests that the Cockatiel is a cockatoo and links that group with most other Australian parrots.
