Territorial and agonistic behaviour of the Reef Heron

Abstract

Agonistic behaviour and displays are described for foraging Reef Herons Egretta sacra. Displays are simple and are basically the same as described for other species and genera of herons. Reef Herons defend foraging territories and this behaviour may be restricted to breeding birds.
