Abstract

Investigations on the avifauna of the 36 acolianite limestone islands between Dongara and Lancelin on the west coast of Western Australia were made from 1957 to 1964 inclusive. Information on the occurrence, abundance and breeding of the 60 species recorded is given. Previously very little was known on the birds of these islands. New breeding stations for two petrels, a storm-petrel, a marine cormorant, two gulls and five terns are listed. The sea-birds are essentially southern or non-tropical species. Three birds of prey, an oystercatcher, a dotterel, a heron, a duck. a parrot and five passerines also nest on the islands.
