Abstract
A three-year census, involving 40 counts, of birds at Lake George, New South Wales, revealed that the prevailing water level influenced the presence and numbers of certain species, particularly ducks (Anatidae) and migrant waders (Scolopacidae). Much of the waterfowl population appears to be nomadic, and the number of ducks are doubtless affected by conditions farther inland as well as those prevailing at the lake. Relatively few species showed a completely seasonal pattern of movement.https://doi.org/10.1071/MU964114
