Abstract
The external morphology and the skull of the Australian Dotterel Peltohyus australis, was compared with the Charadriinae and the Glareolidae. The external morphology did not provide any conclusive taxonomic evidence, but the skull morphology of Peltohyus agreed very closely with that of the plovers. It is recommended that Peltohyus be placed in the Charadriinae close to Charadrius and Eudromias.https://doi.org/10.1071/MU963383
