Season of settlement of a number of shipworms (Mollusca : Bivalvia) in six Australian harbours

Abstract

Teredinids were collected in soft-wood test panels between June 1970 and July 1972. from harbour sites in Sydney. N.S.W.; Brisbane and Townsville. Qld: Bunbury. W.A.: and Hobart and Launceston. Tas. The season of settlement and probable breeding season have been determined for 17 species. Year-round breeding and settlement occur in the warmer latitudes but a summer breeding peak occurs in the cooler latitudes.
