A new species of Isias (Copepoda: Calanoida) from the Brisbane River estuary, and a comparison of the Australasian centropagid genera

Abstract

Isias uncipes sp. nov. described here is the first representative of the genus to be recorded from the southern hemisphere. Comparison is made of structural features of Centropages, Isias clavipes, I. uncipes, Gladioferens, Boeckella, Hemiboeckella, and Calamoecia. The phylogeny of the Centropagidae is discussed.
