Abstract
Evidence provided by the commercial fishery, tagging operation, and direct observation of the schools is used to give a general account of the area of distribution and movements of this subspecies. A study of some aspects of the reproductive cycle has furnished evidence on the location of the spawning area. Some age data are used, but conclusions regarding age are exceedingly tentative and are not essential to the general account. The implications of this account with regard to the total area of distribution and the magnitude of the entire stock are discussed.
