Abstract
A multidisciplinary meeting involving microbiologists, infection control nurses and epidemiologists representing the teaching and major private hospitals was held in December to discuss a collaborative approach to nosocomial infection surveillance. The government and Health Department have acknowledged the health and cost implications of this problem and allocated funding over 3 years toward a statewide surveillance program.
